BUNNY
by
Amber Stults
The bunny twitched his nose and resumed eating the carrot. Several were placed in his food bowl each day. He wished it didn’t smell like the humans. If things were different, he would be out in the garden, hopping from one food source to the next. The sun would warm his fur.
He could hear the other rabbits but not see them. Once in a while the humans would come to the cages, stop for a bit and then leave. He could tell one of the rabbits was missing by the silence.
He wondered when it would be his turn.
