And So It's Over

by

If you were a colour you'd be red, I guess.
 Brightening wherever you are,
 Usually.
 Having the opposite effect when
 you yourself are dark.
 People pay attention to you.
If you were a day you'd be Saturday, for the same reasons.
If I found you in my wallet you'd be a
 £20 I forgot I had.
 Perhaps a photo,
 to someone else I know.
 To weather you're sun through
clouds after the rain, even though
 you know
 it'll probably rain again.
And you're a bridge across something that need never
have been bridged. But I don't mind that.
 And so it's over
 And so it's over
 Week is passed
 What's come and gone
 Gone at last
 It's weird that now
 It's gone away
 A small part
 Wishes it would stay
A tiny part of my life over
I've done it now, and over and over
 Again I fear
 I'll fear again
 But laugh
 Again it's come to pass
 And so it's over
 All is done
 So little went
 Yet so far come
 And all is left
 But my relief
 That once again
 That twisted thief
 Will take away
 What I have done
 Whatever felt
 So far I've come
But as I fear the week ahead
Another week has gone to bed

Ay BIO: I am a young writer, although I would hope this is not overly obvious from my work. Writing is something I have grown up with, although usually in total privacy, in every form including poetry, fiction and music. Occasionally I write something which I feel happy to share and that for the me is the best thing about writing - the idea that someone else on the planet who you will probably never know has connected with something you have written, in some way.

My Motivation
I wrote this particular piece as I lay in bed on a Friday night after what had been up to that time one of the most trying weeks of my life. I had feared the arrival of this week for some time, and as I lay there I pondered how it actually hadn't been that bad at all and I was ironically now a little sad that it was over. So, I tried to follow that stream of thought through a poem. This is it.
