Mama Lumka
by
Amy Corbin

Those without parents
limbs twisted
deformed, disfigured
the dregs
cast out by society
Mama Lumka takes you in
feeds you
teaches you
holds you
She collects you in a wheelbarrow
each morning at sun up
with a smile and a prayer
Mama Lumka sees your worth
when the world does not
