Twice Removed

by

Darrell Lindsey

Returning for a visit,
I find myself looking
for a partial paradise
in the fragrant echoes
of a stranger's poetic words
on a precipice,
in open hands reaching
across the arc of time
to those on glass bridges
who are ghosts to themselves.
As twilght approaches me
already blurred,
I grasp at the sky
of a melody
that is releasing
its beautiful sting
into all these shadows
on the way home
out of myself.
