Where I am from
I am from using windows as doors,
Running on bare feet to the safe spot where friends meet
I am from being glued to the tied dyed tapestries in the grass; the air is thick with soul diesel, the ground quakes with laughing bellies.
I am from getting butterflies at a stranger’s full attention, being witty to entice them to inhale my thrills.
I am from my endless playlist of people who became a part of my family, brought me into their homes and made me pancakes.
I am from an amazing father that masterminded this elegant patchwork of moments we hold onto for always to avoid the dark.
