forty five years ago
my mother
placed a wedding ring
on my father’s finger
over time
skin grew
over the ring
made the band
part of who he is.
now if he ever
tried to take if off
a piece of him
would go with it.
Bio: Casey Quinn writes prose and poetry. His first collection of poetry was released by Salvatore Publishing in 2009 and is available on the publisher website: http://www.salvatorepublishing.com/book.php?id=9
Motivation: Something I saw last time I was home with my family. I noticed that my father could not take his wedding ring off any more. Had become part of him. It was a striking image for me and wrote this poem.
