Minced Mushrooms

by

Shaun V.V.

Edward was in a hurry to get to his office, but the damn elevators, both of them, were busy hauling air to the top floors because some delivery boy thought he’d get a kick out of pushing all the buttons, forcing a hard climb on those who simply had no time.

First floor, second floor, third floor, by the time Edward reached the ninth floor with one more to go, he had to believe he’d make it in time. If he didn’t…he hated to think about what would happen.

Hoping nobody else was in yet, especially the women, he let himself into his office with his keycard. The strain of getting up to the tenth floor one step at a time was nothing like the steps he took practically sprinting to the men’s room. He opened the door, headed for the closest toilet, and wished that the delivery boy’s head was in the bowl as he dropped his pants, plopped down, and with a great sigh of relief let go the biggest conglomerate of indigestible matter he’d ever held captive.
