Embers by Alison Thomas

I could almost feel it happening
On the afternoon late wind
My tight-coiled body curled against
The summer and the spring
And I know I may not look like much
But if your summer fingers touch
And graze against me, just this once
I swear you'll let me in.

My name is Alison Thomas, and I'm a student at Binghamton University.  I've been writing ever since I can remember, and when I discovered poetry, I knew instantly that  I wanted to write for the rest of my life.  My other interests include music, especially from the 60's and 70's, and sailing, and one of my favourite things to do is just sit down and have a good read!  I hope someday to become a published author, and to write well and often.

Motivation:'Embers' was a poem I wrote on a beautiful summer day, feeling full -bursting with life.  I felt a change come over me, a really confident change, and after that I felt that I could do anything, just by having that wildness and innocence of summer inside me, burning like an ember.
