The Cleansing

Rain whispers,
a gentle hush
falling over parched pavement,
a healing balm
to the violence
that fell before.
Sunlight
does not reflect this morn,
for this baptism is needed,
washing away
the residue of human fraility,
a quiet restoration
birthed in the hands of God.

Motivation : I wrote this as I was listening to a gentle rain falling outside. I could hear it on the pavement and thought of all of of the dirt and residue that pavement had been exposed to prior to the rain. This poem was the result...
